Instagram post 2127146162111686178_8284806232 I'm really not a political person. And I really don't want this space to be focused on politics. But I think this needs to be said.
.
One of the absolute best things you can do for your child is to be well informed. .
This applies to everything. Don't just assume something is the right thing for your child just because someone told you it is.
.
Too often we get shut down for asking questions and investigating for ourselves. I think this is especially true when it comes to medical decisions. .
I don't want to tell you what to do. I don't want to tell you what side of the fence to be on. I just think it's in your child's best interest that you know and understand both sides of the fence before making a decision that is going to impact your kid.
.
Even more than that, I think you ought to have the right to choose what will you believe to be in your child's best interest. .
Whatever it is. Medical choices. Vaccination choices. School choices. Feeding choices. Sleeping choices. The list goes on and in.
.
You need to be aware that there are people who are actively looking to take the freedom to make those choices from you. .
Ask the hard questions. Do your own research. Talk to multiple sources.
.
Someday soon, much sooner than we tend to think, you're going to have to make the choice of giving up the freedom to raise your child to the best of your ability, or actively fighting to keep those freedoms.

Instagram post 2110524317845466285_8284806232 Introduction time!
.
I realized the other day that I never did any kind of introduction post, so we're going to do that now!
.
Here's five things about me:
.
1️⃣ I'm a wife, mom of one, and mommy blogger.
.
2️⃣ I don't think I have a favorite color anymore. Depends on what we're talking about. Clothes? Wall color? .
3️⃣ Currently proud of myself for teaching my toddler how to undress himself (ya know, in preparation for potty training). Also kicking myself because now he randomly undresses himself. 🤦‍♀️
.
4️⃣ Batman.
.
5️⃣ I'm not a morning person (at least not until I'm up...if that makes sense). But I'm also not a night person. So I guess that just means I like to sleep? 🤷‍♀️
.
Your turn! What's five random things about you? .

Instagram post 2102774951781145480_8284806232 I think sometimes (read: a lot of times) as moms we're too hard on ourselves.
.
Being a mom is hard, and it's not always sunshine and roses. And it can be incredibly easy to get down on ourselves for our perceived failures.
.
Breastfeeding difficulties, toddler attitudes, baby's weight, lack of patience... It's easy to blame yourself, even for the timed when the problem isn't in your control.
.
But what we often fail to realize is that the loudest voice speaking to us is our own. And it's often the first voice we listen to.
.
So be kind to yourself. Don't blame yourself for the things that are outside your control.
.
Speak life and kindness to yourself. Don't give in to the urge to tell yourself that you aren't doing a good job, or that it's all your fault.
.
Being a mom is hard, and it's not all your fault. As long as you're trying your best, that's all anyone can ask of you. So quit telling yourself that your best is not good enough. .

Instagram post 2100577928990646551_8284806232 As moms, we spend so much of our time watching our babies, caring for them, watching them grow. So much of our time focused on teaching and caring for them. Working moms, SAHMs; we all pour our time and efforts into providing for our little charges. And we love to see them grow. Explore the world, discover things for the very first time. And, in their own time, take their very first baby steps. I’ve been thinking that maybe we should take a step back and learn from them ourselves. It seems to me, that babies have it all figured out. They know that everything starts with baby steps. No one learns to walk in a day. It first takes tummy time, crawling, cruising, and finally one or two tottering baby steps. Even after those first steps, it will be a while before your little one learns to run. But as adults, we forget that everything starts as baby steps. We get in a rush, and want things to just happen. We want to make it happen now, but sometimes it just takes time. We want our children to mature, to learn new things. We want the housework to be done. For our houses to be clean, the laundry and dishes done. We want our businesses to grow. And we want it all done now. Sometimes we get impatient for things to happen. Or, we get stuck, feeling like the tasks are just too big. Whatever it is, just remember it all starts with baby steps. Businesses aren’t built in a day. Laundry is never caught up on if you don’t start the first load. Your house will never be clean if you don’t pick up the first toy. You will never learn to run if don’t learn to take the first step. Whatever your dream is that feels too big, too hard to reach, break it down into little pieces. Look at all the little steps you will need to take, and start by taking the first little step. Stop feeling defeated because you can’t just jump to the finish line. Life wasn’t meant to be flown through. Your dreams and goals are achievable, but only if you’re willing to slow down and take the first baby steps. So as you’re watching your little one struggle through tummy time, and attempt over and over to stand, just remember. Your baby didn’t give up on his dream to run. It just took baby steps to get there.
